Gandhi Ashram, Ahmedabad
Sabarmati Ashram, also known as Gandhi Ashram is a national monument to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi - the Father of the Nation. Situated in the suburb of Ahmedabad city in the State of Gujarat in India, the Ashram, which now functions as a museum, houses a rare collection of photographs and antiquities. Sabarmati Ashram was one of the residences of Mahatma Gandhi.
Initially the Ashram was set up at the Kocharab Bungalow of Jivanlal Desai on 25 May 1915. Later on 17 June 1917, the Ashram was shifted to the banks of the River Sabarmati. The museum here has much significance as it is closely associated with the history of India.
