Prabhas Patan, Somnath Jyothirling

Prabhas Patan in Junagadh district is an important pilgrimage centre for the followers of both the Shaiva (of Lord Shiva) and Vaishnava (of Lord Vishnu) cults.

The idol of Somnath is one of the twelve revered Jyothirlingas. The temple was built by Sun God, according to mythology.

This ancient shrine was rebuilt seven times and the structure that we see today is believed to have been built in phases from 1950 onwards.

Bhalaka Tirth at Prabhas Patan is believed to be the place where Lord Krishna gave up his human form.
