Jami Masjid in Champaner
Jama Masjid also known as Jami Masjid literally means "public mosque” is located in the historic town of Champaner, Gujarat state, western India. It is a part of the Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is among the 114 monuments listed by the Baroda Heritage Trust.
Dating back to 1513, it took around 125 years to complete this mosque. The Mughal architecture style used for the construction of this mosque is said to have drawn from the architecture of the Sultanates.
The mosque consists of two minarets with 30 meters high, 172 pillars, seven mihrabs and sculpted entrance gates with beautiful latticed windows termed as “jalis”.
