The Harappan City of Dholavira

Dholavira is one of the five largest Harappan sites and a major archaeological site that belongs to the Indus Valley Civilization is situated in Gujarat.  Apart from other Indus Valley Civilization sites, Dholavira has a sophisticated water conservation system of channels and reservoirs. Said to have been the earliest system found anywhere in the world, these water reservoirs are completely built of stone.

One of the major tourist destination, Dholavira can be reached from Bhuj (nearest railway station), via State Highway 51, about 220 km.
