St. Francis of Assisi, Goa
The Church of St.Francis of Assisi is a famous chapel situated in Goa, the smallest state of India. The church was built by eight members of the Franciscan friars, a religious order within the Catholic Church. In 1521, the chapel was modified into a church and consecrated to the Holy Spirit.
The present church was erected in 1661 by demolishing the old one. The interior of the church is well constructed and one can find various wooden carvings and art works here. Citations from the Holy Bible are depicted in the interior along with intricate floral designs.
