Basilica of Bom Jesus, Goa
Located in Goa, the smallest state in India is the Basilica of Bom Jesus, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Consecrated in 1605, this church is the finest example of baroque architecture in India. 'Bom' literally means 'good' or 'holy' Jesus and hence the church obtained its name.
The exact location of this church is in old Goa, which was the capital during the Portuguese rule. This church contains the body of St. Francis Xavier; who founded the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) along with Ignatius Loyola, his close friend.
