Attukal Pongala at Attukal Bhagavathy Temple

Attukal Pongala, the greatest celebration of womanhood across the globe is an annual ritual offered to the presiding deity of the Attukal Bhagavathy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

Every year millions of women from around Kerala and neighbouring states take part in this sacred festival seeking the blessings of Attukal Devi (the goddess). Devotees offer paayasam (porridge), Therali Appam and Mandapputtu in earthen pots to the goddess.

The significance of Attukal Pongala is that it had entered in Guinness Book of World Records as the largest annual gathering of women in the world.
