Crafted animal figures from Assam

Though Assam is mostly known for its exquisite silks and the bamboo and cane products, several other crafts are also made here. One of such are beautifully crafted leather animals.

Leather animals are widely acclaimed decorative and gift articles all over the world. These handmade animals are noticed for its realist appearance and elegant looks. The leather used by the artist for these animal figurines are thin soft goat skin. To add its beauty, painting is done on it with natural bright colours.

These leather animals are from Assam, the tea estate of India, in Dilli Haat. It is the village like bazaar for handicrafts and is situated opposite to the INA market in the capital city, New Delhi.
