Indira Gandhi Museum - II
The Indira Gandhi Memorial Museum is located at 1 Safdarjung Road, near Safdarjung’s Tomb on the road to Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. It is situated in a white bungalow and was once the residence of the former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi. It was here in the gardens of this bungalow that her two bodyguards assassinated her on October 31st 1984. The bungalow was later converted into a memorial museum.
Indira Gandhi Memorial Museum preserves her personal belongings including photographs from the life of Nehru-Gandhi family and the personal exhibits of her son Rajiv Gandhi. One can also see the sari which she was wearing when she was assassinated.
The video also shows the personal exhibits of Indira’s son Rajiv Gandhi. He was also India’s former Prime Minister. It includes certain photographs taken by him, his childhood photo, the PC used by him etc. The museum also contains the charred clothes of Rajiv Gandhi, which he was wearing at the time of his assassination by a human bomb bear Chennai.
