Indira Gandhi Museum - III
Indira Gandhi Memorial Museum is located at 1 Safdarjung Road, near Safdarjung’s Tomb on the way to Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi.
It is situated in a white bungalow and was once the residence of the former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi. It was here in the gardens of this bungalow that her two bodyguards assassinated her on October 31st 1984. The bungalow was later converted into a memorial museum.
The Indira Gandhi Memorial Museum preserves her personal belongings including photographs from life of the Nehru-Gandhi family, the personal exhibits of her son Rajiv Gandhi etc. One can also see the sari which she was wearing when she was assassinated.
The video shows Indira Gandhi Memorial. In it one can find the displays of certain news paper cuttings related to Ms.Gandhi, collection of photographs covering the Nationalist movement and happy moments with her family members. Also on display are certain personal belongings. Including her wedding sari woven by her father Jawharlal Nehru, first Indian Prime Minister, and also the box carved by Feroze Gandhi, her husband, for Indira.
As visitors arrive in the gardens outside the museum, they can see the spot where Indira Gandhi was actually assassinated.
