India Gate, New Delhi
This video features the prestigious India Gate, a 42 meter high structure located on Rajpath in New Delhi, India. It is also known as All India War Memorial and was planned by Sir Edwin Lutyens, who designed the New Delhi city.
The construction of the India Gate was completed in 1921. After 10 years, it was dedicated to the country by the then Viceroy, Lord Irwin. This memorial stands as a homage to the Indian soldiers who lost their lives during First World War. Every brick has a name etched on it.
Another attraction of this place is the Amar Jawan Jyoti (The flame of immortal warrior), a cenotaph situated beneath the arch of the India Gate dedicated to the Unknown Soldier. The flame burns since it was lit in 1971 honouring Indian soldiers fallen in wars since independence.
