Gandhi assassination site, New Delhi, India
On 30, January 1948, Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated while he was arriving to attend a prayer meeting on the lawns of Old Birla House in New Delhi. Shown in the video is the site of assassination and the Birla House where Gandhi spent his last days.
Today, the Old Birla House is Gandhi Smriti, a national museum dedicated to Gandhiji. The house cherishes memories on the last days of Gandhi’s life. Besides an exhibition on Mahatma, one can see here the room he lived and the prayer ground where he was shot dead.
The prayer ground has been preserved same as it was during the Mahatma's lifetime. A martyr's column stands on the assassination site.
