An excerpt from Rama Vaidyanathan’s Bharatanatyam on Mayur Alarippu performed at the inauguration of SPIC MACAY Thiruvananthapuram Chapter held at Senate Hall, University of Kerala, Palayam Campus in Kerala, India. Mayur Alarippu is performed in a five-and-a-half beat cycle using the ‘Mayura Mudra’ in Bharatanatyam and depicts the jerky and vibrant movements of the peacock.
SPIC MACAY - Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth - is a voluntary youth movement that works for the promotion of Indian classical music, Indian classical dance and other aspects of Indian culture.
