Sunanda Nair - unraveling the soul of Mohiniyattam
Dancing to the composition Chaliye Kunjana in Mohiniyattam style is Sunanda Nair, a leading exponent in Mohiniyattam. The credit of this dance composition goes to the erstwhile ruler of Travancore, Swathi Thirunal, who was also an outstanding poet.
The performance portrays Lord Krishna and his beloved Radha, exchanging their thoughts about going to a place of Radha’s liking. In spite of repeated pleas by Radha, Krishna is not willing to yield to her request.
