The beautifully carved and inlaid wooden articles of Uttar Pradesh are quite famous among the lovers of wood carvings. Surajkund Crafts Mela, an exhibition held by Haryana Tourism showcases the variety of crafts and the rich cultural tradition of rural India.

Wooden furniture and decoratives have given a new dimension to home furnishing in India. Teak, ebonite, rose wood and shisham are the mostly used ones to make these articles. The craftsmen also use combination of different woods to achieve a variety of texture, colour and strength.

Saharanpur and Nagina in Uttar Pradesh is the two important centres for wood carving. Different furniture like tables, chairs, stands, dressing tables and cots are popular wood articles.
