The poetry on wood, Jammu and Kashmir
Can things made of the hard wood ever be so delicate? Presented in the video are the exquisite wooden artifacts from Jammu Kashmir, the land known for its legacy of woodcraft which spans a period of about ten centuries.
Wood of Deodar and Walnut are mostly preferred in the crafting of flower pots, jewellery boxes, picture frames and finely carved bowls. Chikri, a smooth and ivory colored wood is used to make combs, spoons and sandals.
