Leather Wear from Rajasthan
The leather foot wears of Rajasthan are famous and are made from locally cured leather. The hides of dead animals are used by skilled cobblers for making Jutis (foot-wear). The popular Jutis come with artistically embroidered uppers. Plain or coloured piping is stitched to the edge of the inside portion of the upper form after the leather is dipped in water to make it soft.
At every stage, the leather is hammered to make the stitching and the pasting firm. They are incredibly sturdy and long lasting. Jaipur and Jodhpur are traditionally known for their leather foot wear.
Surajkund Crafts Mela is a grand fair which exhibits rare and rich handicraft and handloom tradition of India.
