Brass metal craft from Madhya Pradesh
Madhya Pradesh is known for its tradition of making metal artifacts. Brass crafting is one of the prominent crafting techniques here. The urge for creativeness reflects in most of the images made of the brass and bell metal.
For preparing these figures the craftsmen follow the ancient cire-perdue process. First the earthen core is made, then wax is shaped on the object which is ultimately replaced by molten metal. The products include, animal and human figures, deities etc.
These fine brass sculptures are exhibited at the Surajkund Crafts Fair organized by Haryana Tourism to promote the tradition of handloom and handicraft of India.
