Thanks speech by Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Kerala University

This video presents veteran film-maker Adoor Gopalakrishnan thanking the gathering at a function organized by Kerala University to confer the D. Litt degree on him. Adoor Gopalakrishnan, who has been an integral part of the Malayalam film industry for 35 years, was honoured with D. Litt in recognition to his valuable contribution to film making, which he did in a style of his own.

Adoor, as he is popularly known in the film world, is credited for making outstanding films, most of which have won appreciation and some of them fetching high honours at the national and international levels. This master film maker has also headed the jury of many national and international film festivals and prestigious film festivals around the world have showcased retrospectives of Adoor’s works. In 2004, Adoor Gopalakrishnan received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest national honour given for cinema and allied works in India.
