When Kidar Sharma paired the young Raj Kapoor, son of Prithviraj Kapoor, and Madhubala in his 1947 film Neel Kamal there begin a new chapter in the history of Bollywood. The film was a debut work for both actors in a lead role.

Written directed and produced by Kidar Sharma the film was not a financial success. Music was composed by B. Vasudev and the cinematography was handled by Gordhanbhai Patel.
