Milan - 1946
Released in the year 1946 the story of the film Milan was based on a novel by Rabindranath Tagore entitled Nouka Dubi (Boat Wreck). The film directed by Nitin Bose was not financially successful but won Radhu Karmakar, its cinematographer, much critical acclaim. Karmakar’s genius is best reflected in the brilliantly shot night sequences of the film.
The film is a Bombay Talkies production and stars Dilip Kumar, Mira Mishra and Ranjana in lead roles. Some admirable compositions of music director Anil Biswas are there in the film including Suhaani beriyaan beeti jaayen and Wo kahen aap ki do chaah ka inaam mujhe.
