Kohinoor - 1960
Kohinoor, released in 1960, is one of the first films to break the shackles of the hindi films which were lined with melancholy undertones starting from independence. Directed by S.U. Sunny and produced by Dr. V. N. Sinha, Kohinoor is a comedy film which deals with an adventure story.
The tragedy king Dilip Kumar, internalizing the tragic roles finally gave way to a sort of depression and was asked to act in comedy films for a change. Critiques say that his comic timing was a revelation for aficionados of excellent cinema and is a lesson in method acting for future generations. The film also stars Meena Kumari, Leela Chitnis and Kumkum.
