Khandan - 1965
Family bondage and relationship were always a favourite subject for Indian films. The 1965 Sunil Dutt film Khandan is one such film which underlines the importance of relationship in Indian society. The film, which was the remake of the 1959 Tamil film Bhagapirivinai, was directed by A. Bhimsingh and produced by Vasu Menon.
The other cast include Nutan, Pran, Om Prakash, Lalita Pawar, Helen and Mumtaz. The film’s music was composed by Ravi. ‘Tumi meri mandir’ and ‘Neel gagan paar’ are some of the hit songs from this film. Khandan was successful in the box offices and was one of the highest grossing films of that year. Later the story was also remade in Telugu and Malayalam.
