Dosti - 1964
Satyen Bose is a versatile film director whose has tested his potentials both in Hindi and Bengali languages. While the 1958 hit Chalti Ki Naam Gaadi was a hilarious comedy in 1964 he came with a story with much gravity. Dosti was a black-and-white film that tells the tale of two friends, one blind and other a cripple. The word dosti literally means friendship.
The film stars Sudhir Kumar, Sushil Kumar and Sanjay Khan in lead roles. It was the debut performance of Sanjay Khan. The film produced by Tarachand Barjatya was also noted for several meaningful songs. Laxmikant Pyarelal composed the music to which Majrooh Sultanpuri penned some expressive lyrics. Most of the songs were rendered by Mohammad Rafi. well who can forget the heart=rending song "Chahoonga Main Tujhe Saanj Savere."
Apart from these songs the film’s music also comprises the harmonica played throughout by the lead character Ramu which was originally played by R.D. Burman.
