Bandini - 1963

Directed by Bimal Roy, the 1963 released Bandini is a female centric film with Nutan as the main protagonist. Based on a Bengali novel written by the renowned writer Jarasandha the film tells the tale of a Bandini (imprisoned).

The film has successfuly portrayed the sacrifice made by rural women during the freedom struggle of India. Besides Nutan the film stars Dharmendra and Ashok Kumar in lead roles.

S. D. Burman's expressive score give some of the beautiful songs to Hindi cinema. The lyrics of the film were by Shailendra. Some of the hit songs from the film are “Mora Gora Ang Laile,” “Jogi Jabse Tu Aaya,” “O Janewale Ho Sake To Laut Ke Aana,” “Ab Ke Baras Bhejo” and “O Mere Majhi Mere Sajan Hai.”
