Mahabodhi Temple, Bodh Gaya, Bihar

This video presents the popular Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya, Bihar state of India. It is situated to the east of the Bodhi tree. The architectural style of this temple is specific and is in the form of a slender pyramid.

Inside the temple is the main sanctum where you can see Buddha’s image in sitting posture with his right hand touching the earth. You can find various stupas around the temple which were erected during the past 2500 years.

A Bodhi tree, situated near this temple is another attraction of this place. It is believed that Buddha meditated here for a week after attaining enlightenment. The followers of Buddhism believe this as the most sacred place in the world. This temple is also listed in UNESCO's World Heritage Site.
