Netravasti in Ayurveda
Netravasti, as the name indicates, is a treatment for eyes. It is also called Akshitarpana. To undergo this treatment, the patient is made to lie on the Droni. Medicated ghee is used in this therapy and two receptacles are built round the eyes to retain this medicine.
The receptacles are built with black gram. These should be 1.5 inches high and totally leak proof. After the ghee is poured, the patient is asked to open the eyes slowly. The ghee is not kept for more than five minutes in the receptacles.
Exposure to strong sunlight should be avoided soon after the treatment. Netravasti cures glaucoma, night blindness and other eye related problems.
