Umananda River Island, Assam
Umananda Island is the smallest river island in the midst of river Brahmaputra flowing through the city of Guwahati in Assam, a north-east state of India. It is a picturesque location and is also known as Peacock Island.
Umananda is famous for the Shiva temple which is said to have been built in C E 1694.Since this is a travel destination many people from around the country visit the island and worship at the temple dedicated to lord Shiva.
One can see many small cruise boats in this island which are all set to carry the travellers for a safari. The much endangered Golden Langur or old world monkey is also found in this particular Island.
