A river cruise in Brahmaputra
To reach the Umananda Temple devotees have to cross the beautiful river Brahmaputra at Guwahati. The Umananda temple of Assam is situated on the Peacock Island in the middle of the river.
Brahmaputra is one of the major rivers in Asia and in Sanskrit it means “son of Brahma” (the Creator according to Hindu mythology). The river is navigable for much of its length. It is when this river meets with river Ganga, the biggest delta in the world, the Sundarbans, is formed. Another interesting thing about the river is that it is one of the very few rivers in the world itself, which carries a male name. And thus flows this majestic river… and true.. one can never step once again into the same river...
