Cruising in Brahmaputra, Assam
Assam, one of the north eastern-states in India is noted for the rivers flowing through this state. These rivers play an important role in the economy of the state. Featured in this video are the ferries crossing the Brahmaputra River. Umananda Island, famous for the Lord Shiva temple is also located amidst the Brahmaputra river.
Brahmaputra is one of the four major rivers flowing through this state and it originates in Tibet (now under China).The mountain regions are the originating points of the other rivers flowing through this place.
The water from these rivers is the main source of irrigation for farming in the state. The government has also started many hydroelectric projects to produce electricity from these rivers.
