Bamboo, the treasure of Assam
Assam, a state in hte north-east of India, is blessed with thick forests with rich flora. The villages here present a harmonious look abundant with bamboo and have homes made of bamboo. The bamboo forests here protect the slopes from erosion and are home to many endangered wildlife species including a large number of birds.
