Architectural beauty of Kamakhya temple
The temple structure is in the form of a cave which contains no image but a natural underground spring. Images of Hindu deities are carved on the walls. The sculptures here are worth seeing.
Goats, monkeys, and a large number of pigeons have made the temple their home, and hang around the premise, being fed by the temple authorities and the visitors.
Thousands of devotees visit the centuries-old stone temple for various rituals and prayers. This ancient Kamakhya Temple of Goddess Sati is the most famous pilgrim centre in Assam.
