Panthi- the tribal dance of Chattisgarh
These dancers from Chattisgarh fill the air with their vibrant steps. Presented in the video is an extract from Panthi dance, a tribal art form of Chattisgarh. The dance is devotional in spirit. It is performed by the Satnami community on the occasion of Maghi Purnima, the birth anniversary of their saint Guru Ghasidas. The songs of the dance are also eulogies for their spiritual head.
Surajkund Crafts Fair is an annual event conducted by Haryana Tourism to promote the traditional art and architecture of India. The fair also offers venue for the performance of Indian folk dances from different states. They are performed on Natyashala, a fan shaped open air theatre.
