Featured in this video is the Gandikota Fort in the YSR Kadapa district (formerly Kadapa district) of the State of Andhra Pradesh, South India, situated on the banks of Pennar River. The fort obtained its name after Gandi, a deep valley or gorge between the Erramalai range of hills.
Said to have been built in the latter half of the 13th century, the fort has nearly 101 bastions of about 40 feet high. The fort also houses a masjid and temples dedicated to Ranganatha swami and Madhava swami.
The fort has been protected by huge, red granite boulders of the Erramala Hills. One could easily get the picturesque view of the surroundings from this fort which reveals the architectural splendour of a bygone era.
