Fishing near Prakasham Barrage, Vijayawada
The Krishna River is one of the longest rivers in central-southern India. It is the fourth largest river in India after the Ganges, the Godavari and the Narmada. Prakasham barrage near Vijayawada diverts most of the water of the main stream of river Krishna into the irrigational canals.
Andhra Pradesh largely owes its rich agriculture to the Prakasham dam as the project facilitated the irrigation of large tracts of farmland.
