Charminar in Hyderabad
‘Charminar’ literally means ‘four towers.’ It is a historic monument located in the city of Hyderabad, State of Andhra Pradesh, India. Listed as one of the most elegant structures in India; Charminar, made of granite, mortar and limestone is located on the east bank of the Musi River.
Sultan Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah of Qutb Shahi dynasty built the Charminar in CE 1591 to commemorate the eradication of plague in Hyderabad.
Visitors to Hyderabad can enjoy good views of the city from the minarets of the Charminar.
