Kala Pani - the prison for the political prisoners
A colonial prison situated in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, a Union Territory of India, the Cellular Jail was used by the British especially to exile political prisoners to the remote archipelago. Also known as Kala Pani, literally meaning black water (the sea), this jail has a great historical significance as it is closely associated with the freedom struggle in India.
