Kuthiramalika Palace in Thiruvananthapuram
Kuthiramalika or Puthanmalika palace, built during the time of King Swathi Thirunal Rama Varma is one of the fore most of such awe inspiring structures erected around Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple.
The northern roof of the palace is supported by 122 horses curved in wood and it is to this beautiful wood sculpting that the palace owes its name. Slanting roofs, pillared verandahs, central open courtyards are all the hallmarks of its architecture.
Today part of the palace functions as a museum. An internationally renowned music concert, Swathi Music Festival is hosted here every year.
