Christmas prayers at St Joseph's church, Palayam

Christmas is celebrated in Kerala, South India in more or less the same way as it is celebrated in other parts of the world, with Christmas stars, cribs, carols, and greeting cards.

On Christmas Eve as well as on Christmas morning, special prayers are conducted in churches across the state, and church choirs visit the homes in the locality.

Keeping in line with the secular tradition of Kerala, many non-Christians also participate in all Christmas celebrations.
