The sandalwood pot festival
Chandanakkudam means sandalwood pot and the highlight of this festival at the Kanjiramattom mosque in Kerala, South India is pots decorated with sandalwood paste. Devotees go on a procession with these pots carrying offerings for the mosque.
Celebrations as part of the festival here are held at night. Other attractions of the festival include caparisoned elephants, musical programs like mappilappattu and oppana and duff-muttu.
The mosque is situated in Ernakulam district of Kerala and has been built in memory of Sheikh Fariduddin. The festival is celebrated in the month of January and is held in association with another festival known as kodikuthu.
