Valattu Paricha Veeshu Kali - a rare Christian art form
Valattu Paricha Veeshu Kali is a rare Christian art form practiced in the areas of central Travancore in Kerala, India. Swords and shields are used in this performance but they do not come in touch during the performance. Costumes used in the Valattu Paricha Veeshu Kali resemble the uniform of the Portuguese military. Songs are written in praise of St. James.
Shown here is the Valattu Parich Veeshu Kali performance by the artistes of Kreupasanam Pauranika Renga Kalapeedam- a cultural academy and training centre for the development of folk and ancient Christian art forms situated at Kalavoor in Alappuzha district, Kerala.
