Kadal Vanchipattu - a coastal folk art form
Kadal Vanchipattu is a coastal folk art form, sung by the fisher folks in the ancient times to relieve the pain and effort of fishing. The rhythmic progression of the song gives spirit and courage to fight with the difficulties they face. The video shown here is the Kadal Vanchipattu performance by the artistes of Kreupasanam Pauranika Renga Kalapeedam, a cultural academy and training center for the development of folk and ancient Christian art forms situated at Kalavoor in Alappuzha district, Kerala state, India.
