Red Fort Gate
The Mughal Palace popularly known as Red Fort or Lal Qila is one of the most outstanding pieces of Mughal architecture. Built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jehan after transferring his capital from Agra to his newly planned city of Shahjehanabad (Old Delhi).
Red Fort of Delhi is located on Netaji Subhash Marg, opposite the famous market area, Chandni Chowk in Old Delhi.
The walls of the fort are made of red sand stone and extend up to 2 kms. The walls are covered with a sequence of turrets, kiosks, domes, balconies, windows and perforated screens.
Entrance to the fort is through the noble Lahore gate. Lal Qila is considered to be one of the magnificent palaces of the world. The lay-out of the Lahore gate can be seen at a glance.
