Kapurush or the The Coward, film by Satyajit Ray
Kapurush Mahapurush, or The Coward and The Holy Man, are two films added to the Indian cinema collection in 1965 produced in the Bengali language, West Bengal, India and were created by Satyajit Ray. Kapurush was based on the short story titled “Janaiko Kapuruser Kahini” by Premandra Mitra.
Kapurush features the story of a man named Amitabha Roy whose car malfunctions near a tea estate, and the owner of the manor kindly invites him to stay.
Kapurush highlights the talents of Soumitra Chatterjee as Amitabha Roy, Haradhan Banerjee as the estate owner, and Madhabi Mukherjee as Karuna.
This film was produced by RDB & CO., and was directed by Satyajit Ray. The screenplay was modeled from the works of Premandra Mitra. The editing of the film was executed by Dulal Dutta, the Cinematography was by Soumendu Roy, Bansi Changragupta supervised Art Direction, and sound was produced by Nripen Pal, Atul Chatterjee and Sujit Sarkar. The original soundtrack was composed by Satyajit Ray himself.
