Bari Theke Paliye, a film by Ritwik Ghatak
Bari Theke Paliye, translated to mean Runaway, is a film in Bengali language, West Bengal, India, produced in 1959. This film was directed by Ritwik Ghatak based on the novel by Shibram Chakraborty.
The film portrays the life of a young child who runs away from his home in search of adventurous experiences. Kanchan, the young boy, is found to be mischievous and wanders around the village performing pranks. He finds his father to be a horrible man who keeps his mother captive. After running away, however, he obtains a new perspective on life and finds that reality is far crueller than he could ever imagine his father to be.
The film stars Param Bharak Lahiri as Kanchan, Padmadevi as the mother, Gyanesh Mukherjee as the father. The rest of the cast is orchestrated by Kali Banerjee as Haridas, Satindra Bhattacharya as Mini's father, Nripati Chatterjee as Feriwala, Shriman Deepak as Chandan, Shailen Ghosh as Nanda, Krishna Jaya as Mini, Kesho Mukherjee as the magician, Niti Pandit as Mini's mother, and Jahar Ray as the traffic policeman.
The film was edited by Ramesh Joshi, cinematography by Dinen Gupta, and publicity layouts provided by Khaled Choudhury. The original soundtrack was composed by Salil Choudhury.
