Kanaka Durga Temple at Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh
The Kanaka Durga temple is situated at the top of Indrakiladri hill on the banks of Krishna River at Vijayawada. This temple is dedicated to the Mother Goddess. The deity in the temple is regarded as Swayambhu or self-manifested and hence is considered very powerful. It is said that Adi Sankara (the great Indian philosopher) visited this temple and installed the ‘Sri Chakra’ here.
On the way to the Kanaka Durga temple one can see the rock-cut cave devoted to Akkanna and Madanna, ministers in the court of Abul hasan Tanashah, the 17th century Qutub Shahi ruler. Vijayawada is in the south Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, India.
